Dominic C. Lortie

Butler:  Dominic C. Lortie, 90, passed away January 19, 2017 at the Laurel’s of DeKalb in Butler.  He joined the Marines after school and served in Japan, Korea, and Phillipines.  He worked for B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn for 27 years retiring in 1989. He went on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. on November 10, 2010.  He was an active member of the Butler American Legion Post# 202 where he was past commander and member of the Color Guard.  He was a member of V.F.W. # 5087, Antwerp, OH. and the Butler Eagles.  He was preceded in death by his wife; Barbara, parents; Francis and Bertha Lortie, brothers; Adrian, Earl, John, Dallas, and Paul Lortie, sisters; Mary Kreger and Shirley Kemp.

He is survived by his children; James (Susan) Lortie of Blythville, AK., Darlene (Jay Johnson) Huttsell of Mesa, AZ., and Ginger Salas, of Fort Wayne,10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren,

4 step-children; Gerrie (Micheal) Harris of McCordsville, IN., Ted (Marsha) Ashley of Fortville, IN., Michael (Sandy) Asheley of Martinsville, IN. and Peggy (Henry) Sattison of Butler, many step-grandchildren.  Also a special companion Alice Pfefferkorn.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at  H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 212 N. Broadway, Butler, IN. with military services starting at 4:00p.m.

 In Lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be given to the Butler Legion Scholarship Fund.
