Coldwater MI: Ernest J. Gagnon, 84, of Angola, IN passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Grand Vista in Coldwater, MI.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 29 at 2:00 PM at H.E. Johnson Funeral Home in Angola, Indiana with Pastor Jim Erwin officiating.  Visitation will be held on Friday, October 28 from 4:00-7:00 PM at H.E. Johnson Funeral Home in Angola.  Burial will follow in Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola.

Ernie was born March 6, 1932 at 9:30 AM to Ernest Xaviour and Verna Leora (Trombley) Gagnon in Laona, Wisconsin.  He joined the U.S Air Force in March of 1952 and served as an aircraft mechanic primarily in Greenville, MS where he met Mary Ann Taylor.  They married in 1956 and had 5 boys together.  After leaving the military Ernie was employed by American Louisiana Pipeline.  Through the pipeline he relocated his family to Defiance, Ohio.

Ernie later married Marion (Schultz) Gagnon and after retiring from ANR Pipeline in 1988 they lived in Angola, IN spending many years renting cottages and enjoying Crooked Lake.  Ernie was also very active member of the Angola VFW and American Legion where he proudly served on many funeral details.  He will be remembered by family and friends for his incredible mechanical talents, his love of God and Country, and an ability to enjoy and appreciate the simple things in life.

Ernie is survived by his children Stan (Bobbi) Gagnon of Coldwater, MI; Jeff (Sue) Gagnon of Defiance, OH; Everett Gagnon of Cincinnati, OH; Steve Gagnon of Fort Wayne, IN; Tony (Renonna) Gagnon of Summerville, SC and Tim (Dianna) Whitcomb of New Haven, IN; his siblings Garry (Micky) Gagnon of Independence, MO; Blanche (Jack) Rink of Hales Corners, WI; Thelma (Norbert) Kalinasky of Green Bay, WI;  Yvonne (Don) Nass of Grand Chute, WI; Greg (Gail) Gagnon of Evansville, WI; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by Mary Ann (Taylor) Riggenbach, Marion Gagnon, and stepson Rusty Whitcomb.

Memorials may be directed to Angola American Legion or the Angola VFW.
