Evelyn M. (Murray) Pickett

Angola:  Evelyn M. Pickett, 94, died Wednesday, October 20, 2016 at Cameron Memorial Community Hospital.  She was born July 1, 1922 in Ripley County to the late Gilbert E. and Lilly Pearl (Huntington) Murray.  Evelyn went to rural schools around Osgood, Indiana, and high school at Osgood for 2 years.  She then went to work for a family in Indianapolis and attended school there.  On August 27, 1939 she married James Leo Pickett.  They soon moved to Pendleton, Indiana. There Evelyn worked in a dry goods store for over 50 years for the same owner.They were able to buy a home, and live in it for 50 years.  They were able to adopt a daughter, Diane, who is still living.  Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 sisters and a nephew.   Evelyn came to be with her sister in Angola due to medical needs.  But she always marveled at being able to live so long in one place.  Evelyn had one outside pleasure and that was two women’s groups of the Odd Fellows.  She was able to do traveling and sharing with a wide range of people and she really enjoyed that to the max!!

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 108 S. West Street in Angola, with Pastor  Tim Terrell of the Angola United Methodist Church officiating.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 31, 2016 at the funeral home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM., with an Order of  Eastern Stars service at 7:00 PM.  Burial will be in the Grovelawn Cemetery , Pendleton,Indiana.
