Gerald H. "Zeke" Zerkle

Angola: Gerald H. “Zeke” Zerkle, 86, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Ft. Wayne.
He was born April 10, 1930 in Waterloo to Guy H. and Mildred (Zell) Zerkle. Gerald worked as a diesel mechanic and truck driver in Ft. Wayne for many years. For ten years he owned Zerkle Watch and Clock Shop in downtown Angola. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Esther E. (Martin) Zerkle on September 25, 1954 and she preceded him in death on September 17, 1996. Upon retirement he continued to enjoy working on clocks and watches, baking, and going on casino trips.
He is survived by 2 sons; Greg (Debbie) Zerkle, Angola, Jeff Zerkle, Butler, 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Additional survivors, 2 brothers; Keith Zerkle, Auburn, Howard Zerkle, Sandusky, OH, 3 sisters; Maxine Meyer, Edgerton, OH, Marge Black, Altamonte Springs, Fla., and Jean Gonzales, Auburn. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral services for Gerald Zerkle will be conducted Monday, August 1, 2016 at 12:00p.m. at H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 108 S. West St. Angola. Pastor Lueretia Snyder of Alverado United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Waterloo cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 2-5p.m. at the funeral home.
