James W. Stock

Angola:  James (Jim) W. Stock, 83, of Angola, IN died Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 10:30am in his home with his loving wife, Anita (Mailand) Stock, at his side.  They were married  May 31st, 1959 at St. Johns Lutheran Church Bingen and celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Jim was born in Indianapolis, IN on August 26, 1933, to the late Wilmer F. and Ruth E. (Bleeke) Stock.  He graduated from Pleasant Lake High School, IN in 1951.  He served in the United States Army from 1954-56.  He graduated from Tri-State College (now Trine University – Angola, IN) majoring in Civil Engineering.  He began his banking career in 1961 at First National Bank of Angola (now Key Bank).  He graduated from the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, WI.  After 32 years, he retired as the President of the bank.  Upon retirement from the Banking Industry, he began a 23-year career with RE/MAX Results as a Real Estate Broker. In 2013, he retired with many awards of Excellence.  Throughout his full-time career of banking and real estate, he enjoyed many interest to include farming, boating, hunting, fishing, camping, and motor home traveling.  

Throughout his career, he was involved in many organizations within the community.  He served on the Steuben County Sheriff’s Merit Board, founding board member of the Angola Industrial Park, founding board member of Steuben County Community Foundation, charter member of the Calvary Lutheran Church serving on church council multiple times, board member of the Fort Wayne Lutheran Foundation, past chairman of the Cameron Hospital Ball Committee, member of the Angola Moose, Angola American Legion, charter member of the Angola Elks, Angola Veterans of Foreign War (VFW), Scottish Rite, Blue Lodge 236, Masons, Shriners, and York Rite.

Surviving along with wife Anita are their four children; Brenda (Barry) Harter of Mount Vernon, WA, Karen (Rusty) Petersen of Anacortes, WA, Kevin (Cindy) Stock of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Diane Webb of Clarksville, IN, six grandchildren Taylor, Logan & Gavin Stock, Savannah, Dallas, & Lucas Webb.  Also surviving are two brothers; John (Diane) Stock and Jeff (Fern) Stock and one sister; Janice (John) Kryling. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister; Judy Collandino.  

Visitation will be held at H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 108 S. West Street, Angola, on Wednesday, August 16th, 2017 from 2pm to 7pm, with Masonic Services at 7 pm.  Funeral Services for Jim Stock will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church on Thursday August 17th, 2017 at 11am with Rev. Daryl J. Emowrey and Rev. Donald E. Meyers officiation.  Burial will follow at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, IN.
