Auburn: Janet M. Jacobs, 78, formerly of Butler, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Ashton Creek Health & Rehab Center in Fort Wayne. She was born October 1, 1940 in Defiance, OH to the late William E. and Janet “Irene” (Marsh) Burkmire. Janet was a graduate of Butler High School Class of 1958. She was united in marriage to Frederick “Lee” Jacobs on July 11, 1964 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Edgerton OH and he preceded her in death on December 2, 2004.
She worked at Cooper’s Jewelry Store, Butler for 23 years and later worked at Kaiser’s Supermarket, Butler for 21 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Edgerton, OH. and Butler Women’s Bowling League during the 1970’s. She loved attending her grandchildren’s activities and enjoyed working in her flower garden.
Janet is survived by four sons; Mathew L. (Janel) Jacobs of Auburn, David C. (Meredith) Jacobs of Spencerville, W. Patrick (Kelly) Jacobs of Spencerville and Nicholas A. (Kelly) Jacobs of Auburn. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Jadyn, Zoe, Hunter, Eli, Maguire, Carsen and Sawyer Jacobs and one brother; Edwin Burkmire of Middlebury, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers; Melvin Hageman, Roy Burkmire and David Burkmire.
Mass of Christian Burial for Janet M. Jacobs will be held at 11am Monday, January 14, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 300 S. Michigan Ave. Edgerton, Ohio with Father Daniel Borgelt officiating. Burial will follow in the Butler Cemetery, Butler, IN.
Visitation will be from 2-6pm, Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 212 N. Broadway, Butler with a recitation of the rosary at 6pm.
