Richard E. Hilkey

Auburn:  Richard E. Hilkey, age 86, died Friday, January 5, 2018 at Presence Sacred Heart Home in Avilla.  Richard was born on October 13, 1931, in Auburn to the late Ferman Cecil and Vera (Buss) Hilkey.  He married Marilyn Lou (Darby) Hilkey on October 25, 1952 at the March Air Force Base in California, and she preceded him in death on May 24, 2015.  He worked at the Auburn Foundry for 12 years and then for Colwell Industries in Kendallville for 15 years.  He served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954, and was active in the Boy Scouts.  Surviving are two daughters; Leslie (Craig) Crowe of Southern Pines, NC. and Sara Beth (Joe) Millspaugh of Spencerville, IN. and a son Kevin (Kathy) Hilkey of Kuttawa, Ky., ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by a brother Ferman Hilkey, Jr. and two sisters; Carcile Fee and Emogene Vian.

Per Mr. Hilkey’s wishes there will be no viewing and a private graveside burial.
