Robert Joseph Bauer

Hamilton:  Robert Joseph Bauer, 90, died Friday, September 15, 2017 at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn.  He was born August 16, 1927 in Jackson, Michigan to the late Alphonsus Joseph and Helen Magdaline (Bartlet) Bauer. He married Mary Matilda Duncan on February 10, 1949 in Jackson, Michigan and she preceded him in death on November 22, 2010.  He worked for Gate Petroleum Gas Company in Jacksonville, Florida for 30 years. He enjoyed farming, gardening, and fishing.

He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Waterloo, Indiana and the Butler Eagles Lodge #2733 in Butler.

Surviving are three sons and four daughters;  Mike (Francine) Bauer of Tampa, FL., Bill Bauer and Pat (Patricia) Bauer of Jacksonville, Fl., Margaret Mangus of Hamilton, IN., Betty Bresnahan of Jacksonville, FL., Laura Bauer of Jacksonville, FL., and Barbara Webster of Hamilton, IN.  Five sisters; Agnes Redmond of Alpine, MI., Mary Wallace of Jackson, MI., Theresa Trudell of Ocala, FL., Bernadette Dahlberg of Minnesota and Sister Ann Bauer of Jackson, MI.  Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son Bobby Bauer, and a sister Cecilla Miller.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 3 to 6 PM at H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 212 N. Broadway, Butler.  Cremation will follow after the visitation and a graveside burial will be held in Jacksonville, Florida.
