David Lee Slaybaugh

David Lee Slaybaugh, 68, of Butler, IN, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. David was a long-time resident of Butler. He was born on August 12, 1954 in Fremont, IN to the late Arthur and Dorothy (Straw) Slaybaugh. David had many jobs and retired from Dekalb Molded Plastics in 2017 after 17 years. He enjoyed playing darts, shooting pool, watching NASCAR (his favorite drivers were Dale Earnhart Sr. and Jr.), and his most favorite thing to do was fishing. David married Patricia Evans of Butler and they had six children; Candy Salisbury of Fort Wayne, Cathy (Jim) Tarrant of Garrett, Angel (Todd) Lothamer of Grabill, Dave (Jennifer) Slaybaugh of Butler, Arthur (Becky) Slaybaugh of Auburn and Anita (Joe) Deetz of Stroh. He has 13 grandkids and 21 great-grandkids. David married Pamela Sanzo on June 29th, 2013 and gained two step-sons, Rocky (Jill) Sanzo of Augres, MI and Kyle (Lindsey) Sanzo of Butler and eight more grandkids. He is also survived by his sister, Linda (Eric) LuCarelli of Butler and brother, Daniel Slaybaugh of Fort Wayne.

David was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Dale; two great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters.

Funeral service will be on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 1:00 pm at H.E. Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, Butler with visitation beginning at 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service to Butler Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Pamela Slaybaugh.
