Douglas Lee Mendenhall

Douglas Lee Mendenhall, 73, of Waterloo, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023. Born in Steuben County, IN, Douglas was born to the late Harold Eugene Mendenhall and Mona Jean (Baller) Dunn on October 30, 1949. He graduated from Prairie Heights High School in 1968. Douglas was a veteran of the US Army as an airborne ranger. He worked for Angola Beer Distributors and retired from Angola Lumber Company. He was a member of the Angola VFW #7205, Angola Moose Lodge #1568, and Orland American Legion Post #423. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved the outdoors. Douglas was the former owner of the Fremont Bar and Grill and a bar in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Douglas is survived by his companion, Judy Mason; sons, Thad (Sherry) Mendenhall of Fremont and Clint Mendenhall of Fort Wayne; daughter, Danielle Bowdish of Fremont; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Randy Mendenhall, Mike Bir, and Roger (Donna) Bir; sisters, Terrie (Jim) Wells and Carla (Jon) Holloway.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 14th, 2023 at the American Legion in Angola from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm with military honors. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or any organization of your choice.
