Elenore May (Pierce) McKinley

Elenore May Mckinley, 91, passed away at her home Tuesday, November 16, 2021 surrounded by family.  Elenore was born October 10 1930 in Fort Wayne; she was a daughter to the late William and Edith Pierce. After the death of her mother Edith, Elenore was adopted and raised by Ed and Lorena Post of Ray, Indiana.  Elenore was blessed with 4 sisters, Louise, Pati, Laura, Janet and 3 brothers Bill, Ray and Roy.

Elenore attended grade school at Scott Center and graduated at Fremont High School.

Elenore married William Wayne McKinley in 1950.  She was a loving and devoted mother to her 10 children, Nyla Faye, Thomas Wayne, Rick Lyman, Sharon Ann, Shirley Jean, Jerry Lee, Debra Annette, Christine Louise, Penny Sue and Sandra Joan, and to her 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren.

Elenore's first full time job was raising her children. She worked long hard days. Never seen her without a potato peeler in her hand or standing over the ringer washer, then to the clothes line. When the kids got older she worked at the Rendezvous as a cook. She loved that job. That is where she started socializing and meeting new friends. It was an escape from all the kids. She was heartbroken when they closed down. Her next job was at the Angola Nursing Home. She worked there for many years as a cook before retiring; there too she met new friends.

Elenore's favorite pastime was reading. She always had a book in her hands. It was not uncommon for her to read a book a day. Her favorite authors were Steven Kings and James Patterson. She also enjoyed watching Nascar racing, a big Dale Earnhart fan. 

The family wishes for all to remember the kindness and generosity she bestowed upon us, and never forget her warm smile. She always carried the warmest smile that would make you feel so welcomed into her life.  Mom you will be forever missed but never forgotten.
