Robert Gunn Obituary

Robert Earl Gunn, 78, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022. He was born to the late Earl and Bertha (Hollingsworth) Gunn on May 13, 1943. He was raised in Mishawaka, IN, then spent most of his adult life in the Lake Wawasee area raising his family.  He was in the first graduating class from Penn High School, went on to graduate from Manchester College where he played football. Robert started teaching after college and then spent many years as an administrator at West Noble, Churubusco, and Goshen High Schools. He coached football, mentored teens, and touched many lives with his witty and outgoing personality. He was a loyal friend and always took the time to get to know people and offer advice. He was an avid Notre Dame fan, enjoyed golfing, playing cards, dancing with his wife, boating, and was an overall sports enthusiast. Robert had a large group of friends who nicknamed him “Gunner.”

On August 14, 1965, he married Jacquelyn “Jackie” Sergeant at St. Bazo’s Catholic Church in Mishawaka. They were life-long sweethearts who met in 5th grade.

Robert is survived by his loving wife Jackie Gunn; daughters, Jeanine Gunn (Tom DiAngelis) of Seattle, WA, Jennifer (Travis) Reiff of Angola, IN, Julie (John) Franklin of Concord, NC; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Termont, brother, Darrell Gunn.

Upon Robert’s wishes, the service will be held at a future date when both he and Jackie’s lives can be celebrated together.
