Butler:  Alfred “Al” H. Suntken, Jr., 88, died, Thursday, March 17, 2016 at DeKalb Health, Auburn.  He was born Wednesday, November 30, 1927 in Gibson City, IL. to the late Alfred H. Sr. and Pearl Manola (Donner) Suntken. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II.  He married Agnes M. (Beard) Suntken on June 3, 1950 at the Angola United Methodist Church.  He retired from Hendrickson Tandem in Butler in 1993 after 38 years of service.  He also retired from the Butler Fire Department serving 20 years.  He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Butler, Butler American Legion Post #202, and was Past President of the Butler Eagles for two terms. He enjoyed spending his summers at Sac-In Campground, Angola.

Surviving is his wife Agnes M. Suntken of Butler, two sons; Gerald “Buck” ((Laura) Suntken of Butler and Michael (Diane) Suntken of Auburn.

Four granddaughters; Jennifer Rigby of Auburn, Becky Casto of Butler, Alisa Worden of Auburn and Andrea Teeple of Saginaw, TX., and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers; Ed Suntken of Hamilton and Merle Suntken of Nevada, IA., one sister; Betty Preston of Pioneer, OH.

He was preceded in death by one daughter; Lyndia Jo Suntken, his parents, two brothers; Robert and Richard Suntken, one sister; Mary Jane Herzog.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2016,  2:00 -7:00 p.m. at H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 212 N. Broadway, Butler.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 11:00a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 217 W. Main St. Butler, with Pastor Amy Albers of St. Mark’s officiating. Calling will be one hour prior to service time from 10:00-11:00 at the church.  A military graveside service will follow in the Butler Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Butler or Riley Children’s Hospital, 705 Riley Hospital Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46202.
