BUTLER — Larry L. Moore, 75, died Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at his home in Butler, Indiana.

He was born on September 5, 1941 in Moore in DeKalb County to Gerald and Bette Moore.

Living his lifetime in Butler, Indiana, he was a 1959 graduate of Butler High School and a member of the Butler High School alumni group. Larry retired from Dana-Eaton Corporation in 2004.

Larry lived his life serving his community. He was a 25-year member of the Butler Volunteer Fire Department, serving as chief for 12 years. While on the department, he was a State and International waterball champion. He proudly served as a member of the DeKalb County Eastern School Board and was currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Eastside Foundation. In addition to that, he was an avid fan of Eastside sports teams.

He was elected to the Butler City Council in 1987 and then as Mayor of the City of Butler in 1992, where he severed three terms. He was currently a proud member of the Butler City Council elected in 2010. In addition to serving on the council, he was also a member of the Butler Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Butler Rotary Club, a volunteer at the United Methodist Church food pantry, was also currently serving as President of Butler Public Library Board.

Larry is survived by his wife Nancy Ruch-Moore. They were married on November 4, 1961, in Butler and would have been married 55 years this November.

Surviving are his two sons, Brian Moore and his wife Sue of Butler, Brant Moore and his wife Lisa of Angola, and daughter Brenda Moore-Hoff and her husband Chad of Butler; five granddaughters, Morgan Moore of Columbus, Indiana, Olivia Moore of Indianapolis, Erica Moore-Storrjohann of Auburn, Brianna Moore of Butler, Krystel Brattain of Fort Wayne and two grandsons, Kristian Hoff of Butler and Kameron Hoff of Butler.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and a brother, Gerald Jerry Moore.

Funeral services will take place on Sunday, October 23, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Butler. Burial will follow at the Butler Cemetery.

Visitation will take place Saturday, October 22, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home in Butler and an hour before the funeral service at the United Methodist Church.  Memorials may be given to the Butler Public Library.
