Robert W. "Bob" Staup

Angola:  Robert W. “Bob” Staup, 89, died Friday July 3, 2015 at his  home.

Robert was born on January 23, 1926 in Adrian, Michigan to the late Hazen W. and Mabel C. (Kennedy) Staup.  He was a retired minister with the United Brethren In Christ Church.  He served at Union Chapel, Fort Wayne, South Scipio, Antwerp, Ohio,  Hudson, IN, Coruna, IN, Mt. Pleasant, Angola, IN and Nettle Lake, Ohio.  He retired after serving 55 years in the ministry.  He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the LST 670 during World War II and participated in several Pacific Island invasions.  He graduated from Huntington College in 1963 and was Ordained in 1963.  Bob assisted the Kistler Funeral Home in Hudson and Klink Funeral Home in Angola for many years.  He was a member of the Edon American Legion Post # 662 .

He married Joan Elizabeth Carr on July 31, 1948 in Metamora, Ohio and she survives in Angola.

Also surviving are two daughters; Lorraine “Lori” Potter of LaPorte, IN and Lynne M. (Roger) Buckmaster of Ashley.  Two sons; Bradley W. (Susan) Staup of Gautier, MS and Brian R. (Jodi) Staup of Brownsburg, IN.  11 grandchildren;  Heather, Holly, Ariane, Kim, Heidi, Mark, Joel, Kris, Kelly, Tyler and Jacob, and 14 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is one sister; Janet Parrill of Adrian, Michigan.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother William C. Staup.

Services will be held  11 am Wednesday July 8, 2015 at Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church, 2140 S. 850 E. Angola, IN with calling 1 hour prior to service.  Officiating will be two grandsons; Pastor Joel Potter and Kris Staup, along with Pastor Devon Strine.  Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Angola.

Visitation will be from 3pm to 7 pm Tuesday July 7, 2015 at H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 108 S. West Street Angola.
