Ercel M. (Tyson) Moore

Butler:  Ercel M. Moore, 98, passed away Saturday July 25, 2015 at Laurel’s of DeKalb in Butler.  Ercel was born February 23, 1917 in Butler to the late

Herbert R. and Bertha M. (Bowman) Tyson.  Ercel graduated from Butler High School in 1935.  She was a nurse’s aide and ward clerk at DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn for 14 years, taught music at Loo’s Music Shop in Waterloo, also a  member and played the organ for Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church for over 60 years and also for H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home.  Ercel loved being with her family.

She married Marion “Pete” Moore on August 21, 1938 in Butler and he preceded her in death on February 26, 1981.

She is survived by two sons; Jay (Shirley) Moore of Butler and Wilbur (Kris) Moore of Auburn,  one daughter;  Freida (Don) Blair of Angola.  One daughter-in-law; Lois Moore of Butler, and one son-in-law; Max Schiffli of Auburn.  Twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are two sisters; Doris Hummon of Butler and Imogene Benson of Angola.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son Walter Moore and a daughter Kay Schiffli, a grandson Kevin Moore, and three brothers;  Orville, Herbert and Leo Tyson.

Services will be held at  11am Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 212 N. Broadway Butler, with Pastor Christine E. Fodrea of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church officiating.  Calling 1 hour prior to services.  Burial will be in the Butler Cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 3pm to 7pm on Tuesday July 28, 2015 at the funeral home.  Preferred memorials are to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church or Donor’s Choice.
