Angola: Howard “Howie” V. Meyer, 86, died Sunday, March 20, 2016, at his home. He was born January 9, 1930, in Fort Wayne, IN. to the late Paul F. and Alvina (Ewell) Meyer. He was a 1948 graduate of Elmhurst High School, Ft. Wayne. He served in the U.S. Army as staff sergeant during the Korean War. He retired in 1992 from Industrial Piping Engineering, Ft.Wayne, as shop foreman. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Angola, Calvary’s Men’s Fellowship, Magic Squares Square Dance Club, Labor’s Int’l Union of North America, and Orland American Legion Post #423. He enjoyed fond memories of Lake Gage, fishing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He married Sharon L. (Burke) Meyer on May 7, 1955 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Waynedale, IN., and she survives in Angola. Also surviving are three daughters, Kimberly (Gene) Jefvert of Fowler, IN., Lynne (Kirk) Perkins of Stroh, and Melody (Rod) Kain of Orland; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; one sister, Imogene Schumm of New Haven and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Eugene Meyer and Lester Meyer; one sister, Verna Zink.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1300 Williams St., Angola with calling 1 hour prior from 10-11a.m. Rev. Daryl J. Emowrey and Rev. Donald E. Meyers of Calvary Lutheran Church will officiate. Memorial calling will take place from 3-7p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 108 S. West St., Angola. The family request memorials given to Calvary Lutheran Church, Angola or Cameron Home Health Care & Hospice.
