Butler:  Joyce C. Diehl, 89, died Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the Laurels of DeKalb, Butler.  She was born on January 20, 1927 in rural DeKalb County to the late Charles O. and Nellie (Carnahan) Cook.  She graduated from St. Joe High School in 1945.  She married Wilbur O. Diehl on June 1, 1946 at her parents home in rural Concord Township.  Wilbur preceded her in death on December 12, 2008. Joyce was a seamstress and used that skill in sewing and mending small children’s clothes for foreign missions, had been employed at Marshall’s Clothing Co. in Butler and enjoyed singing in nursing homes and was active in her choir at Church.  She has also been a girl scout leader in Butler.  Joyce had been a member of the Butler Church of Christ, Calvary Chapel in Waterloo, and then New Hope Christian Center in Waterloo.

She is survived by two sons; Ralph (Anita) Diehl of Waterloo and Tom (Darlene) Diehl of Butler. Four daughters; Diana (Rex) Bartlett of Marysville, WA., Pamela Helton of Auburn, Nancy (Michael) Mickelson of Stryker, OH. And Penny (Bobby) Slone of Auburn.  Twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two half-brothers;  Roger (Marcia) Cook of Spencerville and Keith (Melanie) Cook of Butler.  One half-sister; Carlene Thorpe of Auburn and Illah (Walter) Prosser of Butler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two granddaughters April Diehl and Sarah Mickelson.  Six brothers; Walter, Robert, Wayne, Donald, Carl, and Frederick Cook.  Three sisters; Violet Harter, Beverly Cook and Mary Petre.  Step-sisters Delores Warstler and Gladys Smith.

Funeral Services for Joyce C. Diehl will be conducted Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 11:00a.m. at New Hope Christian Center, 900 S. Wayne St., Waterloo, IN with Pastor Ralph O. Diehl officiating.

Burial will follow in the Butler Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at H.E. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, 212 N. Broadway, Butler from 3 – 7p.m. and also one hour prior to services on Wednesday.

The family request memorials be given to the New Hope Christian Center Music Fund.
